In this mountain house, views are prime. However, cooking in the kitchen turned away from the view and from friends. The owners wanted to renovate their kitchen to take advantage of views and to socialize while cooking but needed it to be economical in this second house cabin. Using IKEA cabinets combined with built-ins, the entire kitchen was re-oriented. A door and a wall were removed to create better spaces for the kitchen and additional windows were added to increase light. This renovation is simple, clean, modern and open – exactly the qualities these owners envisioned. In addition to improving the kitchen, the owners re-did the deck with sustainable composite deck boards and cable-railing to be a maintenance-friendly deck with minimal obstruction and accessible entry.
