In this mountain house, views are paramount. Cooking in the kitchen, however, was turned away from the view, and from guests. The owners wanted to renovate their kitchen to take advantage of views and to socialize while cooking. At the same time they needed renovations to be economical in this second home. The entire kitchen was re-oriented, using IKEA cabinets combined with built-in shelving. A door and a wall are removed increasing space for the kitchen. Additional windows are added to increase light. This renovation is simple, clean, modern and open – exactly the qualities these owners envisioned.
In addition to improving the kitchen, the owners wished to refurbish the deck. This is accomplished with sustainable composite deck boards and cable-railing creating a maintenance-friendly deck with minimal obstruction and accessible entry.
