This mid-century ranch was in need of a modern renovation to embrace its mid-century roots but add functionality and efficiency. With transitions in the house, for both guests and the owner in mind, subtle changes are made to relocate the carport door and enhance that entrance, as well as adjusting the front door to provide more space when greeting guests.
An away room is created with flexibility to be open to the kitchen and front, or physically closed off as needed. The laundry is moved out of the kitchen and a laundry closet center is created in the hallway. This opens up the kitchen to include an island and a better connection physically and visually to the front door, sitting area and away room. Strategically adding larger windows provides both better light and connections to the backyard.
