This mid-century ranch was in need of a modern renovation to embrace its mid-century roots but add functionality and efficiency. Understanding the transitions in the house, both for guests and the owner, subtle moves were made to relocate the carport door and enhance that entrance as well as adjust the front door to provide for more space upon greeting guests.
An away room was created to be open to the kitchen and front or physically closed off as needed. Moving the laundry out of the kitchen and creating a laundry closet center in the hallway opened up the kitchen to include an island and better connect physically and visually to the front door, sitting area and away room. Strategically adding larger windows provides both better light and connections to the backyard.
